3 steps to help you step out of your comfort zone (Part 1)
Do you sometimes feel like you are stuck in your comfort zone?
There’s a simple way to make a change. Remember, nothing good ever grows in a comfort zone😊
Ready for a challenge?
By the end of this post, you’ll know how to choose and set up a challenge for yourself. This can help you learn something new, improve a skill, and find new ideas. We’ll start by picking, then planning, and finally preparing your challenge so it’s easy to follow and stick with.
No matter how ready you feel, if you answer YES to any of the questions below, keep reading:
Do you feel bored, under-stimulated, or like life is almost too easy?
Do you feel like nothing excites you right now?
Are you ready to learn something new and challenge yourself?
Great, you’re ready for a new challenge!💫
Here are four steps to help you start a new challenge and stick with it:
1) PICK A CHALLENGE☄️
You can use one of these two approaches:
Approach 1: Pick a topic that interests you.
Is there an area of your life you’re especially interested in? For example, morning routines. Do you have one right now?
If not, starting one could be a great challenge to try!
Challenge: setting up a new morning routine for X days
What about your diet? Is there something you’d like to change, like cutting out sugar?
How about:
Challenge: Skip sugar for X days
Or maybe you want to read more books but can’t seem to find the time?
How about:
Challenge: Read and complete a new book within X days
Approach 2: Look at your comfort zone.
Think about something you feel really comfortable with right now. For example, are you comfortable with your current exercise routine?
How about mixing things up and trying a new exercise challenge for the month? Challenge: Learn how to do a handstand for 30 days
Or maybe you’re comfortable with your evening routine. What if you tried adding a new habit to see how it could improve your evenings?
Challenge: Mediate for 10 minutes every evening for 30 days
Choose whatever interests you most and turn it into a challenge!
Now, let’s move on to Step 2.
2) PICK A TIMELINE📅
It’s important to choose a topic that interests you, but you also need to decide how long your challenge will last.
Will it be one week, two weeks, a whole month, or even longer?
Think ahead. Can you stick with your challenge for the timeline you’ve chosen?
Picture yourself on day 15 of your sugar-free challenge. It's your friend's birthday, and there's a table full of sugary treats. Can you skip the temptation? Think about any upcoming events or situations like this that might get in the way of your challenge. Can you work around these to stay on track?
Take a moment to make sure your timeline is realistic but still pushes you. If you’ve done challenges before, finding your balance will get easier. If this is your first time, don’t worry, just keep experimenting and practicing!
3) PREPARATION🤓
“Fail to prepare and prepare to fail!”
Take some time to plan and get ready if you need to.
For example, are you choosing to stay sugar-free for the month?
Clean out your kitchen and remove any sugar to help avoid temptation.
Or do you need to get books first so you can start reading?
Make a book wish list and pick your next read.
One more thing to keep in mind:
Don’t aim for perfection.
It’s not about getting perfect results. It’s about the process and what you learn along the way. Even if it feels tough, you can still enjoy the journey and hopefully the outcome too.
In the next blog post, we will look into:
